Based out of the Long Island/NYC area, Band Of Dwellers are original, memorable and full of heart. A four-piece band with a sound that could fill a stadium, they produce an unexpected energy rarely seen in groups of their genre. The band consists of Ryan Duffy (lead guitar, vocals), James Metzler (drums, vocals), Neil Forman (bass, vocals) and Tim Homkow (guitar).
Drawing on their influences from artists such as Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Traffic, Jimi Hendrix, Jon Scofield and The Meters, they are able to combine rock, blues, funk, and jazz to create a sound that is uniquely their own. Their original songs are carefully and soulfully crafted with danceable melodies and meaningful lyrics.
Each live show proves to be a unique experience with original songs as well as fresh takes on old classics. Tightly executed song structures are followed by experiments in collective improvisation that are heartfelt, energetic and interesting. They can go from subtle, colorful, psychedelic atmospheres to all out raucously rockin’ jams with a thunderous rhythm section and soaring guitar.
Ryan formed the current band in 2011. Before that he honed his skills leading his funk band through multiple clubs and festivals across the Northeast. Some venues include Lion's Den (NYC), Mercury Lounge (NYC), Knitting Factory (NYC), Patchogue Theater (Long Island, NY) Dogfish Head Brewery (Delaware), and The Oasis (New Paltz, NY). He has shared the bill with Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers/Dead and Company) and Leo Nocentelli (The Meters); as well as members of Parliament Funkadelic, Deep Bananna Blackout and Greyboy All-Stars.
You can catch Band Of Dwellers currently performing at live music venues all across Long Island and Manhattan including Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, Still Partners, Mr Beery's, The Delancy and Desmond's Tavern, to name a few. As the band continues to churn out new original songs, they are gearing up to record a full length album in the near future.
